It depends on the type of number being ported in but it sounds based on your previous query a month ago that it's a mobile line. If you started over and tried porting your number in again and did everything correct then a mobile phone # from most common mobile providers will take up to 2 hours.
In reality most occur instantly or within minutes after replying YES to the PAT (porting authorization text) especially telus and koodo postpaid. Freedom is very quick as well. Bell 5 to 10 minutes. In my experience fido and chatr take about 20 minutes to a half hour. Virgin at least a half hour to an hour. I have never helped with a lucky port and rogers can exceed the two hour "limit" with up to 3 hours.
I recommend checking on your port status by calling the telus porting department after adding a 30 minutes to the approximate times above and especially if you have used the IMEI # instead of the account # or if the account # was supplied by a support agent if you don't have access to your own account #.
Landlines for the most part are up to two business days but can take 7 days+ for more obscure providers as do voip providers with a few taking 10 to 14 days especially if strict port out instructions are not followed. Typically landline ports that get stuck are the only time pm will call the customer and only if an alternate phone number is supplied at tne time of porting or within the self serve account profile.
MVNO's such as phonebox, Iristel, speak out all have a certain process to follow as do voip providers like fongo or textnow. Number holding services like number barn have lengthy process to follow and many of these examples are best ported during regular business hours Monday to Friday preferably started by Wednesday at the latest.
PC Mobile and koodo prepaid require a temporary number to be taken and the number transfer must be performed by a CSA by contacting customer support after activation of the pm sim card.
If a failed port request is not reinitiated via the telus porting department or pm customer support after 30 days pm will automatically reassign a new number to the account to ensure the customer can both send and recieve calls.
