receiving and sending sms, texts

Over the past few months I have increasing problems receiving and sending sms, mms texts.  Am I supposed to be able to send messages to any cell phone and receive a response?  I am confused with different platforms, Messaging, Messenger, Messages? Do we have to be on the same platform to receive communications?  The same phone ie: I phone or Android.  This didn't seem to be so complicated?  Or is this a Public Mobile problem.

Which text system does Public Mobile use?  I have been with PM for over 10 years and never had problems until about 6 months ago.  Any help would be appreciated.

It shouldn’t matter if the SMS is to an Android or iPhone.

On the latest iOS 18 you can send and receive RCS texting now. I have no problems with RCS on my iPhone 14 Pro Max.

Try resetting the Network setting on your phone and see if that helps.

are you using iPhone? or Android? what brand is that

A lot of time , it is a confusing on the device side, iMessage vs SMS vs MMS or RCS vs SMS vs MMS.  

Also, for people on older phone, sending MMS might be an issue, need some tweak on APN, but SMS should be fine

so, are you on iPhone sending iMessage?
