@oliverhaeffely - cell phone to cell phone ports can take 2-3 hours, but usually quicker, if everything is in order (received and responded to the text, provider proper account info. of previous provider, etc...)
When incoming calls come to your Public Mobile SIM card that generally is a good indication the port is complete.
Remember to restart your phone. And, I believe it is a good idea to perform a reset of your device's network settings when changing providers.

You have to initiate porting request at PM side and they will send request to other company.
Just keep old SIM in your phone and reply Yes within 90 minutes after receiving SMS from other company.

If it's a cell number it's basically instantaneous, and usually no longer than an hour or if it's a landline it may be a few days to complete.

Once the porting is completed, power off the phone then power it back on. The service should good to go.

You need to leave the Fido SIM in your phone and wait for a text confirming with YES that you are porting over to PM.
There is a 90 minute window for you to reply or the porting will not be completed.
If you missed this window, you will need to contact a CS_Agent to restart the process over again.

Normally you don't bother the original provider. You request the transfer at the new provider and leave the old sim in to confirm a text from the old provider.
Did you lose the old sim? Did you try to transfer at sign-up? Are you trying it in change number?
