How do I port my phone number to a new carrier? thanks

From the couple of times I've done this.. the Port Text message was pretty fast.. However it could depend on who you are porting to and from.

To port to a new provider, you will have to initiate your Port request from the new provider.  You must make sure that your existing phone number is still active, as you need your old phone# to respond to a TEXT message to confirm that you agree to port your number away, the response back is a simple "YES" if you want to proceed.

Once that is done, you account on the old providers network will be automatically closed.

@Laurie1234  you start port request with new carrier leaving old provider SIM card in your phone to reply YES to the confirmation text to port . Then put  new provider sim in phone . Over you have successfully ported the number it will automatically close the old providers account . Just note both accounts need to be active to port
