new customer with a porting question

CKC

I'm not sure if my phone number was transferred properly to Public from my previous carrier. I need to know whether it was done and was successful or if I need to contact the previous company and go through th e steps again.

@CKC - Hey, then that is a porting problem, I will send you the number for the team in the private message: https://productioncommunity.publicmobile.ca/t5/notes/privatenotespage

If you get any email from Public Mobile or your old provider about a port issue then use the number I sent you there.

so far everything seems to work except direct texts to my phone number. However, texts mac to mac work.

And, got an email a few minutes ago from the previous company...

The number has not ported out to public mobile, I checked on my end and they never sent a request to get it ported out. I will request you to contact Public Mobile and provide them with the account number we sent you. As soon as they submit the port request, please let me know so that we can give it a final authorization.

After the new provider has submitted the port request, it's crucial to inform our team immediately for final authorization. This final authorization must be completed within 90 minutes of the port request being submitted by the new provider. That said. should I post that account number in this chat?

Well, dang. I thought I did right but I guess i didn't. I received 2 messages - one to say yes to and I did. Then another much later that to say no to PM. Okay, I just called out and 2 people called in and it works. Testing out to see if I can get a text but it hasn't shown up yet.

@CKC - Try your old SIM card from your old provider, if it doesn't work, then the port is complete.

If you don't have your old SIM card from your old provider, try logging into your account.

If your new PM service is working as expected...I reckon you're good to go. Welcome to PM.

@CKC

It takes a few hours for port to be completed.  Did you respond YES to the old carrier's port request.

With your PM SIM card in your phone, are you able to receive phone calls and texts at your phone number?  If you are able to recieve calls and texts, your port is likely successful.

Or you can try your old carrier's SIM card in your phone.  If it is working, then your port was not successful.

@CKC

so did you receive the port request text to which you needed to reply YES within 90 mins ? If you did...try the PM sim in your phone to see if ALL features work as expected.
