it seems the people i cant text or call all have android phones and mine is an iphone. those contacts that have iphone i can text and call no problem

did you try Reset Network Settings on your phone?
try your sim on another phone as well

@darcy61 , make sure the default messaging is not set to iMessages.

@darcy61 Make sure you have you have sms enabled on the iPhone , also make sure your IOS is up to date
