I have a family member just switch providers to Public. Turns out the SIM card works but the new phone doesn’t add the data from plan. Does anyone know if there’s a solution to how we can use the IPhone X?

An iPhone X should have no issue with the data working properly, hopefully the suggested steps rectified your problem.

You can try rebooting the phone by powering off the phone then power back on again.

@Saltyfigs , try doing a network reset and see if the phone will auto populate the correct APN settings. Here is the help article if you have to do things manually.

you meant Mobile Data does not work on the new iPhone ? If so, what iOS version is that?
First update to the latest iOS, also , make sure you update the latest Carrier Profile
