Hi. I referred a friend to Public and he successfully activated his SIM and is using standard calling just fine on his iPhone 6. For some reason though, he can't send/receive texts. Is there any particular way he can fix this?

Yes, he needs to have his Apple id registered on the phone.

1. Turn off Messages then turn back on.
2. Check for a carrier update: Settings >> General >> About, if a carrier update is offered install it.
3. Confirm setup:
Settings >> Messages >> iMessage ON, Send as SMS ON, MMS ON >> Send & Receive should now show PM number and Apple id email address
iMessage & Facetime often need to be reset after changing carriers.

Hi, thank you for your response.
I will try those out the next time I meet him and see how they work out.

@orificeofthenin, are you sure your friend signed up for a texting plan?
I believe that youre friend should have received a text from PM when he signed up. Did he get his welcome to PM text? Did you friend try restarting his phone?
If all else fails, he will need to send a private message to the moderator's team, with the pertinent account information. They are offline right now, but will be back in the morning.
