how to bring my existing phone number to public mobile

I have phone plan in chatr now, and plan to move to public mobile, how should I carry over my existing phone number?

To paraphrase / clarify the above answer from @popping: The ChatR account holder's name, exactly as spelled in the ChatR account has to be filled into the porting form in Public Mobile's self serve account. If the information provided in the porting form does not match the information ChatR has on file the port will fail.

But the name in the ChatR account does not need to match the Public Mobile account holder name.

The name of your old account can be different from your PM account.  People know your phone number.  But not the account number.  I ported a number under my name to a PM acount under my son's name.

I would like to add that the account owner's name of your old chatr number needs to be exactly the same as your new public mobile owner name...otherwise it will likely get rejected (imagine someone can easily steal your number by transfering your number to theirs)

1.  You need to call Chatr to get your account number to be used to port your Chatr number to PM.

2.  Keep your Chatr number active in order to port your number to PM.  Your Chatr account will be canceled after your number is ported to PM.

3.  Login to your self-serve account and select

[Plan and Add-Ons]--> [Change Phone Number] --> [Transfer a wireless or wireline number ] to port your number to PM.

@myoungtel The best way is usually to buy a Public Mobile SIM and sign up for a plan with a new number, then you can use your account to request a phone number change and have your number ported in from your chatr account. Make sure you keep your chatr account open, you can't port a number from a closed accoun.

@myoungtel  Activate your PM sim card with a temporary number. Setup your selfservre account and make sure everything works to your satisfaction. Login to selfserve and choose the change phone number option fill in the Chatr information and port your phone number over.

@myoungtelActivate your Public Mobile account with a temporary number.. make sure everything works.. (not always).. then go to your selfserve account and ask for your transfer.

I suggest for each step do it after business hours.. better late night or early mornings.
