do I need to purchase a new SIM card when porting in

Hey all,

I'm on Speakout right now looking to switch to Public. I saw that we can click the "already have a SIM card" option when buying a phone plan. I'm wondering if I need to buy a Public Mobile SIM card or if my Speakout card works already. The FAQs mentions we need a SIM card but not that we need a Public Mobile SIM card, hence my inquiry.

yes, you do need a new unused Public Mobile sim to start a new account. Be aware that esim is free right now, if your cell is esim ready.

sim card is specific to provider.  So, if you are coming to Public Mobile, you will need a Public Mobile sim card.  Get a PM sim card from Telus or Koodo store for $10, or cheaper to get one from Amazon, only for $5
