When im changing plans it asks me if I'm sure and that "I'll lose my current promotion." Does that mean I will lose all the benefits of my current plan or that I'll lose all the friend referral deductions and loyalty deductions?

But the general rule of thumb with promotional bonuses tied to your activation like the current 2GBBONUS promocode that gives 2gb of recurring bonus plan data** is you will lose bonus plan data 99% of the time but if you have a 2gb bonus data add on you will keep it 99% of the time. But as always it is YMMV so you must make a decision that you can live with the result.
**It was confirmed by Jade_s the community manager that if you upgrade your plan with this promotion you will be allowed to keep the promotional recurring bonus plan data.

All your existing Add-ons and rewards will remain.
You will loss your remaining data on your old plan and your new plan will start at 0 usage.

@chloedoyon No you keep all rewards. It is more in the sense of certain add-ons but not many. Like one time holiday gift add-ons you will keep..but if when you joined and there was a special promotion like sign up now and get one extra gig per month for next 8 month's. Depending on the terms of said promo you could loose it
If you want to post a screenshot of your overview page (delete personal info) ..we can tell you.l if you would loose anything..as for rewards like loyalty, auto-pay, referral you won't loose any
Two option options to change plans. be sure to select change at next renewal. This way at next payment due date your new plan will start and you'll be charged for said plan....if you select change now (will say top up now if you don't have the funds to cover) then the new plan will start right away, you'll be charged for new plan and you'll loose the rest of the days left on your old plan.

Changing plan you will not use your referrals, add-ons, bonuses, etc.
What are you going to lose is reminder of your current plan. Lets say you are on high data plan and your renewal was 5 days ago. If you change plan NOW (instead of scheduling plan change on next renewal) your new plan start immediately, you will be charged right away and your data is forfeit.

@chloedoyon : Mostly...no. If you have a box to the right side showing promo features then it's possible you might lose those. The features under My Data & Add-ons will stay and all your rewards.
If you like your money then be sure to select change at next renewal otherwise you start a new 30 day term and forfeit the previous remaining paid features like data and minutes.
You could also buy data and minute add-ons to hold you over until your renewal. Or you can ask the CSA's to re-up your same plan earlier.
