LTE band 1(2100), 2(1900), 3(1800), 5(850), 6(900), 7(2600), 8(900), 18(800), 19(800), 28(700), 38(2600), 41(2500)
Does not have band 4 so i'm curious as to if it will work. I live in the Toronto area.

I'm looking at the ZC551KL on the BestBuy website, and it says band 4, and the same model on the Canadian ASUS website doesn't.
ive sent an email asking for clarification, as the price point is just about my upper limit, and with my current phone about to (possibly) fail, I'd like to have a replacement.
i will advise on the difference if I hear back from them. They strive for 48 hour response.

One quick thing: when they say that only one SIM can be active in 4G mode, they actually mean 3G.
So if you use PM, the other SIM will only work with Rogers/Fido/AT&T/T-Mobile in GSM/EDGE...

If you click on the link for Specification on their website, it shows the specs for the Deluxe version which has all these bands

The LTE signal is constantly low. According to ASUS's website, the bands are
FDD: Band: 1/2/3/5/6/7/8/18/19/28
http://www.asus.com/Phone/ZenFone-3-Laser-ZC551KL/specifications/
I read that there is a US version for T-Mobile, but cannot find a site with both models/lists (yours and mine).

@gmd, from the BestBuy website today, I see Band 4 is listed for the same model you've specified.
Can you confirm you don't have Band 4? I'm looking to possibly purchase this as my Nexus 5 is giving me various issues recently. Hating that I sold my iPhone, as it could have been a back up for me.
Supported 4G Modes/Bands

The Zenfone 2 Laser (ZE551KL) had band 4.

I got this phone (ZC551KL) at CanadaComputers a month ago. It does not have band 4 and it shows.
With LTE on, the signal is always weak.
I have been using the phone mostly on HSPA/HSPA+.
Still an upgrade from the Moto G (original/2013).

The official specs for the US version of the Zenfone 3 Laser are listed here:
http://www.asus.com/Phone/ZenFone-3-Laser-ZC551KL/Tech-Specs/
Copied directly from Asus:
"US/BR version FDD-LTE (Bands 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 17, 28) WCDMA (Bands 1, 2, 4, 5, 😎 GSM/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz)"
So, there you have it. The US/North American variant of ZC551KL supports every single LTE Band in use today by Public Mobile, no if, ands, or buts about it. Just make sure you get the correct version.

Zenfone 3 Laser (U.S. versions) will be fine. The specs that OP posted are for a differnt variant of the phone. But if he/she buys it from an official distributor in Canada (ie. Staples, Best Buy, Newwegg, NCIX, Canada Computers, etc.), it will be good to go.

While most of Public/Telus's LTE network is on LTE Band 4 (AWS 1700 MHz), they also use LTE Band 7 (2600MHz), LTE Band 2 (1900MHz), LTE Band 5 (850MHz), and LTE Band 17 (700MHz).

Try checking it on these sites:
(Zenfone manufacturer is ASUS)
Or, if you already have the phone, input the IMEI # into PM's compatibility checker on this page:
