Good question, @Stephy1 .    If you knew someone on the Public Mobile network, you could always give it a go with their SIM to see how it functions.

From their website, it says the following:

"Third-Party SIM Cards

The systems are also compatible with third-party SIM cards. Please note that third-party SIM cards are not supported by Fortress, and not covered under the Fortress warranty. Any troubleshooting issues related to the SIM card or phone service should be addressed with the provider of the SIM card.

To use a third-party SIM card, you should confirm the following requirements:

GSM compatible (CDMA SIM cards are NOT compatible)

Legacy GSM Alarm System - 2G cellular signals only
Frequencies: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz

Legacy Vea GSM System - 2G and 3G cellular signals
Frequencies: 850/1900 MHz

Total Security System - 2G and 3G cellular signals
Frequencies: 850/1900 MHz

S6 Titan Security System - 2G and 3G cellular signals
Frequencies: 850/1900 MHz

The SIM card must be active and in good standing, with minutes available.
The systems use talk time and text messages, but no data plan is required.

A contract plan is not required for a SIM card to be used in the alarm system. You can purchase a pay-as-you-go or prepaid SIM card billing plan from most SIM card providers, which will be solely for your alarm system. You do not need to use your existing cellular plan to purchase service for your alarm system."

@Stephy1

What is the name of your Fortress Security system (box) in your house?

If you have any one of the following system, it will work with PM using 3G signal 850MHz and 1900 MHz:

Legacy Vea GSM System

Total Security System

S6 Titan Security System

Believe all remaining 2g networks in Canada will be closed soon?

@Stephy1

PM does not support 2G(GSM).  If the fortress security system uses only 2G signal, it will not work with PM.

In Canada, only Rogers network supports 2G and Rogers network had scheduled to turn off 2G transmitters on March 31, 2021.
