Why can’t I call or text without wifi?

I can’t call or receive incoming calls, as well as, send or receive messages without having wifi.. this can’t be happening, so I need some help otherwise I’m going to have to go back to my prior carrier.

I agree with softech on this.  My brother somehow received RCS messgages and he could not get text or send anymore.  Had to clear out RCS and set it back just to SMS. Not saying this is the answer but after i reset my brothers phone it all worked as it should

@StevieD15  What do you see in the status bar of the phone, does it say Public Mobile?  Did you get a Public Mobile physical sim card or an esim?   It sounds like you are making calls and texts through iMessage and/or Facetime.  Does there seem to be any connection to Public Mobile at all?

Let's start with the "can't call" part. You said at the end you will go back to your prior carrier so are we as a community to assume you just ported over to Public Mobile? If so, if you place your old carriers SIM card back in the phone, do you still have service? Have you tried to reset your network settings and reboot? Have you tried your PM SIM card in a different phone? Can you give us just a bit more detail like what phone you're using?

you were not using true SMS , you were using iMessage or RCS.  Check your messaging app settings
