What’s required for a phone to work on the Public Mobile network?

Where would I find this information such as band compatibility and frequency and network coverage and all that fun stuff on the phone and also for PM? Asking for a friend who would like to go with PM when they move here.

So.. if the numbers line up for the phone’s bands and on the list provided by PM (if someone can please share that information it would be much appreciated, as I can’t seem to find it), does that mean for sure the phone will work in Canada on PM?
some of the Chinese versions (as they’re currently residing there) of the phones they’re wondering specifically about and are looking into (haven’t bought yet) are:

  1. Huawei Pura 70 ultra
  2. Vivo x100 ultra
  3. Xiaomi 14 ultra

they’re looking to get the US/Canada 5g plan, so they would optimally want to be able to use 5g service but would be honestly settle if worst comes, for it to work on 4g only…  and they’d be based in GTHA if that is important information.

thanks for your help! We’re so confused as I’ve never had to look into this and don’t know where to start so really appreciate it!

Here are the frequencies that PM utilize and check the specs on those specific phones:

Since There Chinese phones they may be running harmony os if so you will have a problem downloading the app. As it's can only used on iPhone or android. You can work around this by using a friend phone to set it up.

Hello,

You can just open Public Mobile Website and head to the section saying "Get Help" and type in your questions.  For instance, for phone compatibility, just type that in and the section should pop up in the list.

For coverage here is the link:  https://www.publicmobile.ca/en/on/coverage  Public Mobile uses Telus network so the coverage is excellent.

Hope that helps.

@WindyOrbits  There's some info here

https://www.publicmobile.ca/en/qc/get-help/articles/check-your-phones-compatibility

Also none of the 3 phones mentioned are on PM's VoLTE whitelist which is likely to be a potential problem if roaming in the USA is likely since there is no longer any 3G network in the States.
