Voice-mail

I have numbers that are blocked. They call and I hear nothing then I get a voice-mail notification and they leave messages. How or can I stop this from happening

Thanks

@Nezgar , I’m going to set it up again & report back! I have been wondering also if it still will!

awww sorry, if you do submit a ticket to get your conditional call forwarding fixed … ask for a Senior CSA to fix the issue for you. You will get further faster & more accurate help! 😉

Edit: It seems that the YouMail app & website are currently in a bad mood & not working to set it up! I will try again another time!

Edit: I am finally able to use the YouMail app! I will report back if it’s using my limited minutes!

@dust2dust , yes I have VoLTE on my phone service & the only way I was able to get call forwarding / conditional call forwarding to working again was to submit a support ticket to get a Senior CSA to fix it on their broken end! Which in turn allow me to setup conditional call forwarding again so YouMail would work again! Which I like better than PM Voicemail. I am currently not using YouMail though due to it uses up my limited minutes due to the conditional call forwarding to it!

Right, I recall at the time that the minutes from my $15 plan were even being consumed by anyone reaching my Public Mobile voicemail as well (just by connecting--even if they didn't leave a message). However, I found with further testing around mid-April that minutes are no longer consumed.

You might want to test again if setting your conditional forwarders to YouMail still results in minutes being consumed. Do your minutes currently only get consumed if conditional forwarders are set to YouMail, but not when set to default Public Mobile voicemail service?

I'm still working up the guts to open a ticket with CSA's to attempt to fix being able customize my conditional forwarders...

I seem to think there's a call intercept app that you give criteria to filter. I seem to think there's also an external voicemail system that can filter calls as well. A regular here did get forwarding fixed (I think) @LitlLdy or I misunderstood.

The only thing Public can do as mentioned is the no recordings option in the extended absence greeting of the voicemail system.

Unfortunately with the recent transition to VoLTE beginning, lines that have been converted to VoLTE service no longer have the ability to customize the conditional call forwarding settings (*61, *62, *67). In the past I would have recommended setting the *67 code to a dead-end number so that calls that are "rejected" by your phone are diverted to a dead end instead of your voicemail, but setting that no longer works, at least not for my phone since being enabled for VoLTE.

If you don't use voicemail at all, another option would be to go into the voicemail settings and disable the option to leave a message. You can still have it play an announcement such as "Thankyou for calling, I am currently unavailable, please try again later or send me a text message."

Go into the voicemail settings, choose option 3 (Greetings) then 4 (Extended Absence Greeting) and record an announcement (2), Turn it on (4) and then enable "Message not allowed after greeting".

hi @pmva no, device blocking a number just mean the phone won't ring, the call will be sent to VM.  🙂

Thanks for clarifying, didn't realize this.

 Hi @RandallJ just one number blocked?? if it is one number only, it is a device setting.  Check your phone.  And a quick way to confirm if it your phone problem, try your sim on another phone

@RandallJ

what is unclear from your post is the whether these are wanted or unwanted calls.

If they are wanted calls, are you relatively new here and porting your number from another provider?  If so, did you reply yes to the port authorization request text within 90 minutes of receiving it?

If they are unwanted calls, there’s not much you can do about it, except don’t ever answer the calls from unknown numbers if they ring through as doing so will cause spam calls to increase.

@RandallJ
Not much you can do about Spam or Spoof calls. The spoofed number are randomly generated so you don’t know their real number.

I had the Truecaller app but I found it wasn’t that effective. It might not work in Canada I was told.

@RandallJ  Is this on Android or iPhone?  My impression is that if it's blocked on the device it is blocked even from leaving VM.
