Unlock iphone

My iphone 7 just died!  I have an iphone 5 I can use as an emergency until I get a new phone.  But it will not accept the sim card as it was previously with another carrier.  How can I unlock it-please advise.

@julietree  You need to contact the carrier the iPhone 5 came from and ask them to unlock it for you .
