As stated in the subject I am unable to login into my account event though email and password are correct.
I receive the message 'system error, please try again' every time I try to login. I just wanted to check the status of my account for international calls.

PM is not good at announcing this stuff. They do the vast majority of their 'system maintenance' during week-end overnight hours so it's become something of a given around here.
Indeed, an announcement or notification would go a long way for those needing self-serve access for account management.
