Unable to Read SIM Card

Roey

At random times, and at different lengths, my SIM card is 'unable to be read', making it so I cannot call or text. When I restart my phone, I can text or call for a short amount of time, then it goes back.

Check to see if there is a crack on the SIM tray. The plastic SIM tray crack easily and can’t read the SIM.

They are cheap on eBay if it is a plastic one.

After trying the above suggestions may also need to ensure your sim card sits snugly in your sim card slot. Try using a paper shim or a piece of well placed tape to secure the sim card in place.

It looks like SIM is losing contact with your phone.

Remove SIM try to gently clean contacts. Try to blow some dry air into phone's SIM compartment to remove potential dust, dirt. Sometimes doing out/in few times will clean contacts. Put SIM back.

If symptoms as you described continue to be present then try your SIM in another phone to determine is it SIM or phone. If it works OK in another phone then your phone is slowly dying.

did you have the same issue with Telus SIM? or just on this PM SIM?  how long you have use the PM SIM?

If you got this issue pretty much right after you joined PM, reseat the SIM could help.  But if still not work, it could be a fault SIM (or the SIM bend by a bit and has a loose connection).  You might be need to get a new SIM (but if you are very new to PM , likely you can ask PM for reimbursement).

But let's test it out first and see what the result and you can decide the next step

@Roey   First try to reseat your sim once.  Power down the phone, take the SIM out for a minute before putting it back and power up.  See if it works well

if issue persists, if you have another phone, try to put the SIM in another phone and use it for a day or two.  This could confirm if it is a SIM problem or the phone

Or if you have another active SIM, put it in your phone and use it for a day or two and see if you have the same problem
