At least until we hear that AT&T has been revived for us.
So with that voip app (like a popular one around here called TextNow) you get a Canadian number. Then you forward your Public number to it. Then when you connect to the internet you can make and receive calls. Making calls would of course be your TextNow number to the recipients. So hopefully they aren't the screening calls type. Darn them. But they can call you on your normal number.
Leave the sim at home as it could break that forward if it connects to a US tower.

@ray818 Sorry PM won’t work in Alaska with US add on … best to just get local pre paid SIM card while your there

Alaska seems to be dead for us. So no. You could get a voip app and connect to the internet somehow either wifi or local cell data service.
