US calling from Canada

I have the $35/month plan.

What happens when I call a US number? Do I get charged extra?

I seen similar post and people commenting that it won't work but I have had no issue call several US numbers.

Surprised that you were able to call US numbers without buying add-on or having a bonus US minutes.

Now I understand that you were using an app to call those numbers which will not get you charge extra.

for Existing Customer No Promotion No gift, only Holiday Giveaway time to time and for some special customer, not to all Existing Customer....

The add on is best, convenience wise. An app or a voip account will need the use of wifi or data.

 @t_p : Yes. Maybe and probably. But now he has said he has no other add-ons so that makes it the only way (other than toll free).

 @crosbyoverovi : Then it's rather puzzling that you say you can call the US. You can call most toll free numbers in North America. But you shouldn't be able to call anything else without the $50 or $70 plan or the appropriate add-on.

I was not aware of the gift add-ons. I only see my plan that I am currently on and nothing else under My Data & Add-Ons.

 @crosbyoverovi : Do you have any of the gift add-ons from years past? The 400 or 500 minute international add-ons that were gifted include the US. Maybe you got them last Xmas.

Once you buy a USA calling add on there are still some USA numbers that you cannot call. See in the ToC for add ons. You can still text to USA on your plan. There are quite a few alternatives to call USA. 

Would you have a lot of calls to USA?

Personal?

Business?

iPhone to iPhone?

The add on ..... the unused amount carries over month to month until used up. 

For or convenience the add on is good...and per minute price is pretty good too.

You won't be able to call so there is no extra charges!

You can use a voip app like Textnow to call or text US numbers for free 🙂

PM is prepaid so there would be no additional charges.  Usually you would need to purchase an add-in to call the US.

1000 U.S. Long Distance Minutes - $15

Calls made to numbers starting with the following six digit combinations are not included in US calling from Canada and will not be completed when dialled: 712-432, 605-562, 641-552, 605-475, 605-477, 712-775, 559-726.

If your calls don't get connected then you may have to purchase the add-on.

However, you can call US if you buy the US Long Distance addon

But you have to buy first before you use.  Please remember, buying add-on is a two steps process, load fund first and then buy add-on

you can't make call to USA, you need Purchase Add-Ons,

sign in to Self-Serve, to review your account, 

How To Purchase Add-Ons Using Your Self-Serve Account

To purchase Add-Ons using your Self-Serve account, follow these steps:

1. Click on ‘Purchase Add- Ons’ on the Overview tab and scroll down to the Add-On calculator.
2. Click the plus sign (+) to add and the minus sign (-) to remove selected Add-ons.
3. When you’ve added all your desired Add-Ons, click ‘Buy Add-Ons’ or ‘Make a Payment’ below the calculator:
   • You will see ‘Make a Payment’ instead of ‘Buy Add-Ons’ if there are not enough funds in your account to make the purchase.
   • If you don’t have sufficient funds to purchase the Add-Ons, you will be asked to make a one-time payment equal to the price of the Add-On, less your current available funds. Click ‘Submit’, then ‘Go back’: now the button below the calculator will say ‘Buy Add-Ons’.
