I recently switched from Lucky Mobile to Public Mobile but encountered issues transferring my number (###-###-####). Customer support informed me that the ESN/MEID I provided was incorrect.

dont use IMEi/MEDI, use account number

first remove the phone number. This is an open forum and you are posting to public. Go back to your post,click the down arrow and select Edit Message
As to the port, it is better to provide the account number of the old carrier instead of IMEI
