Is it possible to switch to Public Mobile without replacing my current SIM card? Or is it completely necessary to get a Public Mobile SIM first?

That's true until May 31st, but only if the new customer activates at the store.

I don't think there's any cell service that will let you use another company's SIM other than roaming.
Nor do I think there's any service that will let you re-use an expired, defunct, inactive SIM.
