No service

So, this happened with me today, I turned off my cellular data and my mobile showed no service. I tried to restart the iPhone and reinsert the sim, nothing happened but then I went to my cellular and turned it on and the sim network was back working. Does anyone know why that happened? Why do I have to keep my cellular data on for the sim to show network?

Hi there,

Normally this shouldn't be an issue. Make sure your roaming options are correct (ie turned off). Other than that, you could try reseating the SIM card. Worse comes to worse, you could manually turn off the data for all of your apps.

Thanks,

Liam

It should definitely work without having the data option turned on. I doubt it's anything account related issue. But try the sim in any other phone if you have and see if you get signal without turning on data.

Yes, i understood your issue very well.

Make sure you do not have roaming option enabled.

I found this troubleshooting guide via google: https://support.apple.com/en-us/ht201415

So give that a try and see if you get your service back without having data turned on.

@Ginni-Aemaan What phone do you have?

Have you tried turning off data and then turn off/on airplane mode? Also, check your network settings and make sure it's on LTE.
