Transferring Number to Koodo without reactivating public mobile account

I want to transfer my number to Koodo without reactivating public mobile account. Koodo requires me to respond to a text message. I don't want to pay a month of service for just 1 text.

Please contact Koodo customer care to accomplish this.  Your Public Mobile account can be in suspended status but must not be already closed.This option is only available when porting to Koodo or Telus.
