Transfer number

When I try to transfer my PM phone number to my new phone the PM website and app say it is not a valid Canadian phone number.

@RU_B9  You don't need to transfer the number.  Once you have logged in to  your existing account on the new phone and bought the new esim it should work with the old number automatically.  How old is the physical sim?  It would have to be very old not to  work.  Having said that, it probably won't work any more now that you have installed the esim, that would cancel the physical sim.

You are telling me the same things the PM website and app tell me.
As mentioned, I think the SIM problem is backwards compatibility -- an older network type that the brand new phone does not support.
I agree that I _should_ be able to purchase a new esim. I can, but PM app refuses to let me transfer my current PM phone number to the new phone, claiming that the old number is not a valid Canadian phone number.

@RU_B9   Unless the physical sim is very very old it should work in the new phone as long as it's the right size (if it fitted in the slot then it is the right size).  So what happens when you try the esim, you should just  be able to log in to your existing account and purchase one.  Is the phone brand new?

Those were the first things I tried.
Moving the SIM, but the new phone doesn't recognize it. I assume that's because the new phone is not backwards compatible with the older SIM card.
I can get an esim for the new phone, but the PM app will not let me use my old number.

@RU_B9   If I'm understanding correctly, you already have a Public Mobile account and phone number and want to switch it to the new phone?  If a physical sim all you need to do is take the sim out of the old phone and put it in the new phone (assuming you still have it).  That's all there is to it.  If esim then you need to download the Public Mobile app on the new phone, log in to your existing account, and purchase a new esim (it will be free if you  had one before).

@RU_B9  Something like this was resolved in a previous thread.
send a message to a cs_agent and confirm that your number is valid for porting. Apparently there is a small technical issue with some specific numbers. They should be able to resolve. Their hours are 9am-10pm each day so be mindful of that while waiting for reply. Hope this helps.
