Text bubbles are green

Text bubbles are now green on iphone, they were blue to start, just started using this today. is this because of the current service upgrade?

The sender must have enabled RCS Messaging on their iPhone. 
That is what I have done because RCS gives a higher resolution photos and videos.

can be a problem on the other end too

did you get green for all your iMessage contacts?  your mobile data or wifi are working?

try reboot phone, try turn off iMessage, wait 5 mins and turn it back on

If you changed phone numbers or providers you might need to logout and back into iMessage and your Apple account. Try disabling iMessage, logging out of Apple account, log back in and turn iMessage back on. Make sure it's showing the proper phone number.

Ok but nothing was changed in settings or anywhere else, why are they not being sent via imessage?

If you see a green message bubble instead of a blue one, then that message was sent using RCS or MMS/SMS instead of iMessage.
