Text Messages Not Working

cdulmage09

I am able to receive text messages from all my contacts, but am unable to receive incoming text messages from a group messaging program used at work.  Number is (999) 999-9999.  I have been able to receive them before, but they have recently stopped coming.  Not sure what to do.

Check the configuration on that company service. Do any co-workers use Public? Can you try the sim in a different phone?

Yes, that sounds correct.  Any suggestions?

Yeah, just the one is not working.  I believe it could be a Telus issue as well, as there are other Telus users that are not receiving the message.  Could that be possible?

I tested both msg.telus.com and msg.telusmobility.com. Both appeared as from the 999 number. Adding a subject line didn't seem to make it mms as I had thought.

I also tested using msg.koodomobile.com and it arrived as an mms and it appeared to come from the email address and not have the email address in the body.

Hi @cdulmage09 only one particular group message not work but others are good??

Nope.  It doesn't seem to matter if it is data or wifi.

Yes, that looks to be a more accurate description.  I can see the email address from where it is being sent.  Not sure if it is an issue with my phone messaging, or possibly from work.  Any suggestions on my end before I look into the work end of things?

Hi @cdulmage09 you cannot receive them even when you are using Wifi??

I started with that.  No change.

I have iMessage enabled and my group messages is toggled on.  It is strange because I have received messages before, but am not longer able to.

From my experimenting, that number is an email -> text conversion. The sender sends out an email to a number using something like the address previously mentioned. Can you investigate the work system to see what it's using for sending to you. Do you have any older ones still in your texting app? When you look at them there would be an email address in the body as where it came from.

But not long ago somebody had a similar comment. Not sure what came of it.

It’s possible you may need to enable Apple iMessage or Android Chat on your device, depending on what it is.

You may also need to ensure your data is toggled “on” to receive group messages.

Give that a shot and report back, please.

I believe it is using phone numbers.

@cdulmage09 is the group messaging using phone numbers and SMS or email addresses to phone numbers?  eg. <phone number>@msg.telus.com?
