To answer your question is really a subjective rather than an objective answer. Public Mobile recommends that you port upon activation. If you do not feel comfortable doing so then you can choose a number then port your number after your new number is active.
Have a wonderful week and welcome to Public Mobile!

@rattlingbrook did you try to transfer/ port your number when you activated? If you did, the number you are trying to port should show in your self service account plan area. If it doesn't, and a temporary number shows, something went wrong with the port. Send another port request to the moderators. . Type " Port Request and follow the prompts to get to one. Give them the name on the account, number to port and the old providers account number. Note the old providers account must be active to port. The port will close it once its completed. There are 2 ways to contact the Moderator Team:
Once connected to Simon, you will be asked to log in again with your community user name and password. Please do, this allows you to continue and send your message.
- Check your private message sent box (click on the envelope top right of your screen) to make sure the message was sent.
- Keep an eye on the envelope top right of your screen. The mods answer will show up there. When it does, you will be asked to verify your self service account, with your password and login. Doing so allows the process to continue. Stay safe.
Welcome to PM .
If you are asking if its better to activate with a temporary cell phone number and then contact a moderator to port. Unleass its a Pc mobile or Koodo prepaid account. Then no, port at activation.
