Moto E $80 and Alcatel Pixi 3 $60. I'm not an Android fan but these seem to be good prices.

Yep - same goes for Koodo phones. Whether locked or not, they'll work just fine with a PM SIM card.

@north450 That is not true. I am happy to confirm to you that all Telus phones (even if they're still locked) will work on PM without any problem. PM is fully owned by, and uses the Telus network.
If you have access to PM support on the phone, you must already be on a legacy plan, so you can merely put your existing PM SIM in any Telus phone, and Bob's your uncle!

From my own exerpeience, the 3 Telus phones I have tried all have worked with Public Mobile's network. It should not be an issue.
Enter your IMEI here to check if your phone is compatible: http://publicmobile.ca/en/on/get-started
To obtain your IMEI, go to your call screen and enter *#06#.
Good luck

Moto E locked to Telus is on sale at bestbuy since boxing day for $69.99 , looks like it's sold out now, could be a restock though.
