Talk and text

Hi! My children have the unlimited talk and text plan with a small amount of data. They are having trouble texting once the data has been used up. They say that they can’t receive texts? I don’t see how the texting is affected; it shouldn’t be.

Texting does NOT use Data UNLESS they use 3rd party app.
SMS is using native mobile network to send/receive SMS.

You should use native texting app for SMS/MMS and not 3rd party no matter how 'convenient' 3rd party app is to avoid any SMS issues.

@jenno   the reason they have trouble is that they were not using traditional text (SMS)

Instead, all kids these days uses iMessage or RCS, which consume data or need Wifi.  It is espeically data consuming if they sent pictures or video.

You might want to ask them to change back to use SMS/MMS or you  need to buy them more data or just ask them to send those iMessage/RCS only when they have Wifi
