Hi,
A friend of mine who is visiting has a plan with Public. I'm interested in switching services to Public. Is it possible to use their SIM card once they leave and migrate my phone number?
Thanks!

Yes you can take over his account. He will need to contact customer support to change the email from his to yours. You can either replace his credit card with yours or he can have his removed after he gets the email changed. Once that's done he can login into the self serve account to allow you to change the password and 4 digit account pin #. Edit the profile details to your own.
Once he is finished with tbe Sim card preferably with at least a day left in the 30 day cycle. You can then schedule a change plan on next renewal if you want a different plan and port in your phone number. Before you port if you want to top up your account and save the sales tax you can change to an Alberta phone number temporarily and manually top up your account paying only gst on your plan amount. Then port your number in using your full, name on your current account, account # and the phone #. Leave your Sim card in your phone to reply YES to the PAT (porting authorization text) within 90 minutes of receiving it. Your port will then complete within a few minutes to a maximum of 2 hours.

@pjhan You or your friend would also need to update or remove their payment card before you take control of the account.

@pjhan Yes, you can.
If you are setting it up for your friend, you can make it easier by using your email address for login name, and use your credit card
Once he leaves, then just request Change Phone number from Profile page to request porting
