Hello I would like to sign up with your service for the $50 package with 150gigs… currently I am with bell but I would like to keep my bell number and have it transferred over to public mobile so I wanted to know the procedure and what I need to do and how long does it take?.. also is there any fees I need to pay ip front?

I didn't say app only as other might argue people can start subscribing in website first, which is technically true.

And, the issue I was referring is someone started using browser to activate and got to payment , then need app but unable to login app after, very common issue

It's not just to avoid issues.  The activation must be done through the app.

Do I need to do this setup via thé app or can I do it online from the website?

Ok  thanks

No, you don't.  It is just cheapest to get from Amazon

If you don't want to get it from Amazon, I suggest you get the PM sim card in person from  Telus/Koodo/Mobile Klinik instead of online from PM site

Do I have to get it from Amazon ?

@Kuraaku

yes, better to buy the sim card first and subscribe using Public Mobile app when you have the sim card ready.
Get a Public Mobile sim card from

And for the temp number, there are choice to do that, but you really don't need it.  There is no advantage of getting the temp number first.  So, just go ahead and request porting at Step 5 of the activation.

Ok thank you for the info

You mentioned that I don’t need a temp nunber but I also got a reply saying to get one? I’m confused

During the activation process, you'll get the option to port your number right away...or take a new number temporarily...then once you have service working as expected, initiate port form bell to new Public Mobile account. (I like the temporary number option to make sure Public Mobile account is up and running first...then port in from old)...but choice is yours.

@Kuraaku

you actually don't need to get a a temporary number first, there is honestly no advantage of doing so

You can request porting in the phone number at the step after payment (Step 5).  Simply choose Bring in your phone number, and provide PM the current phone number and your account number with your old carrier

After the activation is completed, make sure you still have Bell Sim card in the phone and wait for Bell to send you a text for approving the porting.  Reply Yes within 90 mins.

After you replied, reboot the phone with Bell sim ever 30 mins until Bell sim no longer functioning, which signal the port was completed.  Then remove Bell sim and insert PM sim card and reboot phone

- Get Public Mobile SIM or eSIM
- Download PM app
- Register with PM and pay the bill
- Get temporary number FIRST
- After you confirm all is working: data, calls, sms initiate number transfer from Bell
- BOTH services HAVE to be active and accounts in good standing
- Keep your Bell SIM in your phone as you will get SMS from Bell to confirm transfer
- One transfer is initiated your Bell account will be closed and number will be ported to PM. It might take a while so be patient
