@Maverick4 Activate your sim and pick a temp number. Once your son is activated and your selfserve account has been setup then have your Koodo account number, name on there Koodo account and Koodo phone number ready.
To complete your port-in request, please click this link and type in “port request” to be put in touch with a Moderator. Include the Koodo from above and they will setup the port for you.

thanks. I wish to change from Koodoo and understand there is a wait time to retain my koodoo phone number. Can you explain please

@Maverick4 In order to setup your card you will need to make payment and prepay for the first 30 day period. So your plan start day is your setup day.

@Maverick4 the billing date starts on the day you decide to activate. you need to add funds to set up a sim card/account

To technically activate it. Of course everybody would insert the SIM to use the service they just paid for.

@Maverick4 Yes, the phone number is associated with the sim card so you can move out to any other device iPhone port Android.

@Maverick4 wrote:Can I set up a sim card on one iPhone and then transfer that sim to another iPhone and maintain the same number that it was set up with?
Yes. Be aware of card size. They may be different. Keep all the parts that came with your original card.
You don't even need to insert a SIM into a phone to activate it either.

A couple of points from someone who just went trough all this.
Before you start, it is best if the iPhone has been RESET using a SIM from the current provider. Even if the SIM is no longer active, it can still be used to access the phone.
My iPhone 4 would not start without a SIM. I tried all the 'tips and hacks' and it would NOT run without a SIM. Once an appropriate SIM was inserted it could be started.
That said, here's what I found.
1. If the phone has been locked by the current (non Public) provider, then when you insert a Public SIM and turn the phone on, you will get a pop-up immediately that says "you cannot use this SIM in this phone. You must use a SIM from the current provider". In other words, the pop-up tells you the phone has been LOCKED by the current provider.
You need to put a SIM from the current (non Public) provider in the phone and go through the start-up procedure. THEN you can use '*#06#' to obtain the IMEI number for that phone. Now contact the current provider and ask them to unlock the phone. If you are in Canada, by LAW they must do this for free. My provider said "4 hours" but it was done in under an hour.
Follow the directions they give you. Mine emailed me to say "your phone is unlocked" and told me to put a new SIM card in (not theirs). I put in the Public SIM in, and then did a factory RESET.
Now you can activate the card and it will (eventually) work. (see below).
2. Once I activated, I waited 3 hours for the phone to connect and the number to transfer... and waited. All I saw was "NO SERVICE". Eventually I opened a ticket here, but then I thought... "what if I just turn the phone off and back on? (and maybe take out the SIM?)."
So I powered off the iPhone. Once off I removed and reinserted the SIM. Then I powered on the phone, and immediately I had Public as my phone provider and network.
So for the original poster (whose problem was fixed by a reset), powering off and back on probably would have fixed the issue as well.

You definitely need to unlock your phone prior to adding the public mobile sim. Public mobile will show up in the top left or right corner of your phone.
Go to your provider and search Unlock phone and they will have instructions on what you need to do.
This is only if your phone is older than 2017 that this will apply.

@Naepalm...you're late to this party...the OP got the phone working. Gave it a reset and good to go.

Turn off your old phone. Wait a minute. Turn your phone on with your hubby's SIM card inserted and let the PM SIM card to configure your old phone again.
If this does not work, his account may not be provisioned correctly. Adding $1 to his account may trigger PM server to provision his account again.

While waiting for moderator assistance...try cycling phone off, then on.
Try putting it in Airplane mode for a minute, then back again.

@Rabbit58 if you are asking about the old phone then no, it does not get locked by PM. It appears that the new account was not provisioned properly and you will need to contact Public to reset the account.
To submit a ticket to the Moderator Team, please start a conversation with the Public's virtual assistant, SIMon by clicking here or the icon (bottom right of your screen).
If you are still having problems contacting Public Mobile then click here. The link sends you to the private message function and adds the moderator team as recipient for a private message. You just have to enter a title and text in the body of the message describing the problem and post. The message will be received by the moderator team and they will respond to it. You will receive the response in your private message inbox.
Please note that account verification may be required when contacting the Moderator Team

Test
Put your working SIM card in your old phone. If it does the same with your hubby SIM card, your old phone is locked by your previous provider. Call your previous provider to get it unlocked.

@Rabbit58 PM doesn't lock the phone. It sounds like your SIM didnt provision properly. Try these tricks to restart your phone service. You could try in order:
1. Restarting your phone. Turn your phone off, wait 30 seconds and restart.
2.Putting your phone on aeroplane mode for 5 minutes. Take it off and restart.
3.From your self service account enable the lost/ stolen feature log out, wait 5 minutes, log in and take it off. Log out and restart your phone.
4. Add a one time payment and of $2 To your account and restart your phone .
If these tricks don't work contact a moderator and ask them to reset your SIM. Click on the green questionmark in the white circle at the bottom right of your screen. This connects to the autobot Simon. Type moderator and follow the prompts to get to one (CLICK on "Account specific question" and "No I want a human" and "Submit a ticket Click me!")
Once connected, you will be asked to log in again with your community user name and password. Please do, this allows you to continue and send your message.
Check your private message sent box (click on the envelope top right of your screen) to make sure the message was sent. Also keep an eye on the envelope, the mods answer will show up there.
You can also enable email notification to receive a private message notification sent to your email.
Go into your community account > my settings > PREFERENCES > Private Messenger > enable "Receive email notifications for new private messages" > Save
Stay safe.
