Scam callers using voIP .

I am being called on a daily basis by telephone scammers. This is driving me crazy these numbers I am getting are quite often 226 area codes and other area codes that I do not recognize. Why can't they be blocked??

@Mike202

I get spoof calls and text every second day on my VoIP number.

You can use the Truecaller app to minimize the spam calls. For the texts you can block them by typing #STOP but the scammers will spoof a different number to hide their number.

The “Screen Unknown Callers” feature on iPhones with iOS 26 is super useful. With that on I get very view spam calls and I used to get multiple per day.

unless you recognize the number calling you..just don't answer any calls. Let it go to voicemail. If it's a legit call, you can call them back if you wish. Once the bad guys know you'll answer all calls...well, you know what happens.

I am going to assume you have an Android? You may wish to look for apps that can block spam callers.

Recently, iPhone incorperated Call Control into it's phones. It's been amazing. I haven't had one spam call since. May want to consider upgrading to an iPhone if that's a possiblity.

hi @Mike202

you have sent out your number for resume and likely on some job sites, this could be why the number got "popular" and searchable by spammers

I thought about a number change but 230 resumes out with that number ?? I can't really do that.

hi @Mike202

This is something affecting many in all carriers, no carrier has effective way to block calls.  You can use "Silent unknown callers" feature on iphone or android and those calls would be routed to VM and you can ignore

or you can get a new phone number if you have not used the number for too long

@Mike202  There should be option in your phone to block unknown r callers , but then you will miss some calls like dr office and schools call possibly , best to ignore unknown callers anyways , could always try and change your phone number and you can do that up to 4x for free every 30 days but even then your bound to still get scam calls it’s just part of life these day unfortunately
