SMS not working

Lenwalter
Great Neighbour / Super Voisin

Hey I just switched to public mobile and ported my number,

but now it seems like it’s stuck in “verifying” (it’s been over two days already)

SMS won’t work and iMessage and all that stuff. I don’t know what’s going on, I did everything I could find online: turned my iMessage of and FaceTime off rebooted my phone (didn’t do anything, still stuck in “verifying) I tried putting it on airplane mode, tried turning wifi off so it would force it to use the new number and data but that also didn’t do anything.

if anyone has any recommendations

or is there any way I can re-do everything?

I’m pretty stuck right now
thanks for the help

hi @Lenwalter

just go to Settings , remove the phone number.  Wait 15 minutes and reboot phone.  Go back to Settings and put the phone number back in and it should register successfully this time

Do you have any working services on your Public Mobile sim card? Voice calls in/out? Texts in/out? Mobile data?

If you have no working services on your sim card then its likely it did not provision correctly during activation.* Only customer support can fix this. Contact them via the chat bubble at the bottom right corner of your screen to submit a ticket or send a detailed private message.

*(This issue should always be addressed first if there are multiple issues.)

Can you call your phone # from another phone? Do you hear your old voicemail message? Can you log into your old account from your previous provider? Does it give you full access? Does your old sim card still work?

These are all signs your port request failed. ( Did you reply YES to the porting authorization text from your previous provider within 90 minutes of recieving it?)

If this is the case you need to either contact customer support or call the porting department phone # yourself and request porting of your phone # again. Just ask us for it and we will send it via your private messages box.

Please do not post pictures that contain information such as your phone number and e-mail address.  I have removed the picture from this message thread, but you will still need to delete the picture from your Public Mobile Community account yourself.

iMessage is a proprietary messaging system, so I'll focus on the universal SMS aspect.  In Apple's messaging app, ensure that the SMS option is enabled.  I have seen it disabled on some Apple device for inexplicable reasons.  If you send an SMS message to yourself, do you receive it?  Also, are you receiving all of your incoming phone calls?  It's possible that number porting failed.
