SIM card and a GSM modem for Raspberry Pi

Do the PM SIM cards work with GSM modems? I am trying to register on the network with a PM SIM i have inserted in multiple GSM Modems for Raspberry Pi but the never register.

Thanks. I think I will try another device or change providers which support 2G

When you say GSM, are you truly using a 2G GSM device? Public Mobile / Telus do not have such a network on any frequency. Only Rogers does.

 

For 3G (UMTS / W-CDMA / HSPA), you would need 850 MHz and 1900 MHz.

The 3G bands should be 850 and 1900 Mhz.

I guess the answer is it doesn't work.  This could be due to band compatibility.  I take it this GSM modem has all the requisite bands for 3G or LTE connectivity.  Perhaps @sheytoon our resident expert in this area can weigh in here.
