Roaming outside of Canada

Hi there!

I’m aware that Public Mobile only offers roaming in the US at the moment. I’m just curious if I travel to another country or even to the US without a roaming package, will my phone automatically connect to the other network providers or will it be completely disconnected (SOS only)?

@BKNS27 @Aitreon your phone WILL automatically connect to T-MOBILE if you leave it as automatic . That's why change to Airplane mode to save some power. Or you can also change to manual connection to PM network before the trip

But again, even it connected to T-Mobile, it won't cost you extra as PM is prepaid

Your phone will not automatically connect to T-Mobile. You will be required to manually connect to T-Mobile on your Cellular network setting while on the US. 

If you decide not to purchase Add-on, you can use Whatsapps or TextNow app for free wifi calling and texting.

Please note the Roaming Add-ons will not work in Alaska because there are no T-Mobile towers. Only AT&T towers in Alaska.

@Aitreon  it will try to connect , and usually will connect, to T-Mobile if you leave the Mobile Carrier setting to Automatic

You WON't receive calls if you don't have a roaming talk 

you WILL receive incoming text even  you don't have any roaming. Good if you need to receive 2FA code.  But you want be able to send/reply text.  Just receive

@softech thanks for clarifying! So even if I don’t get the US roaming package, my phone will still automatically connect to T-Mobile and receive calls/text messages in the US?

@Aitreon  when you are in US, the phone will try to connect to T-Mobile.  But won't cost you much as PM is prepaid

You can turn on Airplane mode and just turn on Wifi to save battery

When you are outside of US, the phone won't connect to any network as there is no roaming anywhere else .  But again, best to turn on Airplane mode to save the battery
