How can I find out if I gave the correct number I want to keep when I switch providers to public mobile

It's the old carrier's SIM card that needs to be in your pyhone to receive the porting verification text message.  Are you asking about that or are you asking about the Public Mobile account 2FA verficiation?  As for checking which phone number that was given, that can be checked by going into your Self Serve account.  The nubmer that you requested to be ported in got immediately assigned to your Public Mobile account.
