Recently ported from Telus... now SMS not working.

Hey guys, 

I ported over from Telus four days ago and have had nothing but problems ever since. After going back and forth with the CS_Agent for the last three days my phone is finally ALMOST working.... everything is back to normal except for my SMS texting. I cannot send or receive any SMS text. Calls, data (internet), iMessage, and MMS  (for some weird reason) are all working. Everything is working except for MMS. It seems Public Mobile is tired of helping me because their last two suggestions were to "make sure I wasn't using iMessage" and to "check the settings in my phone". I feel like i've tried everything. My phone is up to date, I've tried toggling airplane mode, resetting my phone, resetting the network settings, turning my phone on and off, taking the SIM card in/out...... nothing is working... still no SMS.

@Migeenajade you have done the right thing, you opened ticket and it's actually good someone called you earlier

 

Please reply the ticket daily for update , make sure they are aware issue had not been fixed.  I know it is not a good experience, but once it setup is fixed, it will be good from there.  

 

Maybe suggest them whether it is a sim card issue?? not sure if a change if Sim would fix it

For anybody keeping tabs I was with Public Mobile for 10 days, of which my phone worked properly for 0% of the time. I was unable to get ahold of a human being to discuss my problem with unless somebody from Public Mobile called me directly. I was told time and time again that my issue had been escalated, and somebody would call me,  somebody would fix my issue, but nobody could figure it out and nobody helped me. The last time I heard from Public Mobile was three days ago when they said that they would have my problem fixed by the end of the day. Like I said, that was three days ago and my problem was never fixed, and they never called me back. 
Needless to say I have gone back to my previous provider. Not worth the savings. 

Absolutely horrific customer service. 0/1. I would never recommend this phone company to anybody.

ask the rep to reset the network or reprovision the account on their end. it sounds like a provision problem...

It’s just SMS that is not working. I cannot send or receive SMS.
MMS is still working for some random reason. 
This is not a new phone either … this it the same phone I’ve had for a year. Same phone. Same number. And It Was working perfectly 4 days ago with Telus and I haven’t changed any of the settings. I’ve tried toggling the iMessage setting to force SMS messages but it still doesn’t work.

I am able to receive MMS for some random reason but no SMS from friends or 2FA. I cannot send or receive SMS.

@Migeenajade - sorry to hear of the frustrations. So, everything is working except SMS ?  You wrote MMS in your post at one point...just checking?

 

Are you using a 'new to you' iphone? If so, try to deregister the number on the iphone: https://selfsolve.apple.com/deregister-imessage/

 

Then, set up your phone number On your iPhone:

  1. Go to Settings > Messages and make sure that iMessage is on. You might need to wait a moment for it to activate.
  2. Tap Send & Receive. If you see “Use your Apple ID for iMessage,” tap it and sign in with the same Apple ID that you use on your Mac, iPad, and iPod touch.
  3. In the "You can receive iMessages" section, make sure that your phone number and Apple ID are selected.
  4. Go to Settings > FaceTime and make sure that your phone number and Apple ID are selected in the "You can be reached by FaceTime at" section.

 

Note:

If you turn your data off occasionally, then try turning off iMessage altogether and use regular text messaging instead, see if this works. If so, turn it back on and test.

 

To do this, go to Settings > Messages and toggle iMessage off.

 

If you prefer to use iMessage, then you can perform the following steps to try and fix the issue:

  1. Connect to the internet using WiFi or Data.
  2. Go to Settings > Messages and toggle iMessage OFF.
  3. Turn your iPhone off completely, then turn it back on.
  4. Go back into Settings > Messages and toggle iMessage ON.
  5. Make sure “Send as SMS” is also turned ON.

Try your PM SIM card in another, known to be working, device.

 

Then you'll know whether it's a SIM card (account) problem, or a device setting.
