I changed from one PM plan to the $29 promo plan. It didn’t require a new sim. I went with the digital sim anyway when I purchased my new iPhone last year.

yes, you need a new sim card to port back.  you can buy it cheaper by buying from Amazon.ca, only $5

or you can buy the PM sim card from telus or koodo stores around you
