Public Mobile support for IPhone 5c (iOS 10.3.3)???

Hi there,

Is anybody currently using Public Mobile with an IPhone 5c and  the version of the operating system iOS 10.3.3?

We just switched a phone like that from Virgin Mobile on Thursday and everything worked fine on Friday and since then we don't get a signal (it shows No Service) and we're wondering if Public Mobile dropped support for that version of iOS two days ago.

We already got Virgin Mobile to unlock the phone and remove the IMEI from a black list (where it suddenly showed up after we dumped them), but we still don't get service again. The SIM card works well in other phones and SIM cards from other carriers (e.g. Freedom Mobile) work well in this phone, so it just the combination of this phone with this SIM card after Friday.

That's why we're wondering if Public Mobile stopped supporting iOS 10.3.3 two days ago.

Could anybody using that version of iOS please chime in?

Thanks!

@esjlivwe don't have a Freedom SIM card, that test was done by the guys at a Walmart kiosk. Since then, I've restarted the phone several times always with the Public Mobile SIM card inside.

@damaflaca

Maybe check to see if there is a Telus outage in your area:

If there is no outages then you might have to reset your phone.

@damaflaca  - try removing the Public Mobile SIM card, then reinserting the Freedom SIM card, restart the phone.

Then, remove the freedom SIM card, and insert the Public Mobile SIM card, restart the phone with the Public Mobile SIM inside.

Does that do anything? There have been past posts about Freedom SIM cards triggering something when doing this.

Thank you @esjliv , yes I replied YES to that SMS from Virgin Mobile and also had to follow up with a phone call to support after that because incoming calls were going straight to VM. The number has already being ported over to Public Mobile and on Friday I could test it several times.

Also, I looked in that website (and two different ones) the IMEI a couple of times today and it was already CLEAN

Thank you @Dunkman , I've tried the first two several times, but not the third one.

I'll give it a try to see if it works because strangely, I cannot login to my AppleId from the phone anymore since this issue started. I can do it going to https://www.icloud.com/ , but not on the phone.

@damaflaca  - did you accept the SMS approval port text from on the Virgin SIM card?

Also, your Virgin account needs to be active to port over to Public Mobile.

If you missed the approval text from Virgin, submit a ticket with Public Mobile for help to start the process to port over again; click this link: to request the transfer of your number over to Public Mobile.

Also, to be sure, check if your phone is blacklisted here: https://www.devicecheck.ca/check-status-device-canada/

edit, sorry...you said the SIM card works well on other phones, so not a porting issue, so ignore that top part of my post now.

but you could still check to see if your phone was not put on the blacklist AGAIN in the link above.

@damaflaca

No notice form Public mobile that IOS 10.3.3 is not working anymore and no recent complaints from other members. I am not on this IOS so I can't tell you for certain.

A few basic troubleshooting advice:

reboot phone

network reset of phone

connect to iTunes via a cable to a computer.
