Public Mobile Phone Numbers Not Recognized as Real

jaymac

Hello,

Has anybody verified their LinkedIn account using a Public Mobile phone number. LinkedIn is using the same company some of the airports use for quicker boarding called Clear.

The issue is that I get an error message telling me my phone number must be an internet number and I will need to get a number from a recognized provider such as Bell, Rogers or Telus!?

Contacted Clear and they tell me the same thing, I need a number from Bell, Rogers or Telus. I tell them my phone number is from a company owned by Telus but that does seem to matter.

Anybody have any idea why it might not work, or have they gotten it to work?

 @jaymac

it likley not a PM problem but a problem with the  system you are accessing , like Linkedin or Clear as you are experiencing problems with.

Did you port your phone number from a landline or VoIP provider?  Those system like Linkedin has no way to check which provider you are with, all they do is the check the origin of your phone number (by area code and the next 3 digits), and if it was originally from a landline or VoIP , they would think it is a non-Mobile line. There is really nothing PM can do as it is not a PM issue.
