I got thru up to activating and it said there was a problem. I had not been instructed to put sim in yet.

Nobody will get back to you. More details would be helpful.
Did you port over your number from another mobile company? Did you finish the activation via the PM app?
If physical SIM card, you can try in your phone and see whether you have any service.
