HI @gpixel
i don't think this part is true
in fact, scammer don't care to blacklist the phone after the sell. The phone they sold was either already blacklisted, or the phone was stolen or had payment dispute with the carrier and got blacklisted after, not by the scammer

the main thing is the imei is not tied to the account in any way. yes one can call in and blacklist a device, but what I'm saying is that the hardware is not tied to the account. in the 1st and 2nd tier providers one can do this by logging into their account and then register their device as the main IMEI device to the account. once that is done then one is able to use their IMEI as the number to transfer. if that isn't done then no the IMEI cannot be used

?
As soon as you put a Sim card in your phone the provider can see that info on your phone. But it can only see the last device the Sim card was in.....your theory doesn't make sense otherwise the blacklist wouldn't work?

a simple solution would be a similar disclaimer as the Koodo prepaid process. using the IMEI requires the provider to store that information in their system as the primary device used. however, most companies don't do this. normally one has to register their device online or by phone, then that particular IMEI/device becomes tied to the account. other than that the IMEI doesn't automatically get tied to the account. the provider can probably search the sim and see what IMEI is using it, but until that device becomes tied with the account it cannot be used to transfer phone numbers.

There's a couple of providers that you must use the IMEI# but the messaging could be clearer in that regard so that customers understand its only meant to be used in exceptional circumstances.

PM needs to remove that IMEI option. it never works and a waste of time for PM and the customer

The telus/koodo porting department opens in another couple of hours. I will send you the phone number in your private messages. Call them and preferably give them your lucky account # instead of your IMEI #.
Keep your lucky Sim card in your phone to reply YES to the PAT (porting authorization text) within 90 minutes of recieving it. You can then switch your Sim card to the pm Sim card and your port should complete within a few minutes to about 30 minutes.....longer than that indicates there may be another issue and you call the porting department again to check on your porting status.
Once you can recieve incoming calls on your pm Sim card your lucky Sim card will no longer work and your lucky account will be closed/cancelled. Welcome to Public Mobile!
