Hi, I purchased a new phone and a salesperson submitted a request to transfer my Public Mobile number to another carrier (Freedom). It’s been 2 hours and I still haven’t received a validation text from Public Mobile. What should I do?

I inserted the new Freedom SIM to my new phone, turned it on, and shortly after received a validation message from PM to my old phone with PM SIM card. Everything went smoothly and quickly after that. I had no idea that I had to stick a new SIM card to the phone to start porting. Happy New Year everyone!

@Beebeebee The text comes from the old provider (in this case Public Mobile) asking for authorization to release the number to the new provider (in this case Freedom Mobile) The text comes by SMS so doesn't need wifi but it does need for the Public Mobile sim to be still in the phone until the text from PM has been answered YES.

Ensure your phone is connected to Wi-Fi so you can receive communication

You should be getting a text from your new provider for you to agree to complete number transfer request and to restart your phone.

It’s on Freedom to initiate the porting request.
See if this article helps. https://www.freedommobile.ca/en-CA/support/Can-I-transfer-my-current-phone-number
If it’s not helpful then I will send you to porting departments number for Public Mobile and see if that works. Check your messages by clicking your avatar and then clicking inbox.

@ace14318 you actually will get the text with your old provider, not PM
There is a number to call to talk to live support, they can re-trigger the process for you. I will message the number to you via the Community inbox ( https://productioncommunity.publicmobile.ca/t5/notes/privatenotespage ) . Check the envelope icon on top right. Call them and get it fixed

@ace14318 , you need to work with your new provider, perhaps resubmit the number transfer. Public Mobile cannot intervene with a number transfer out. They cannot verify the receiving carrier brand.
