Porting my number from Fongo to Public Mobile

maudet88

Hi, I did a request with all the information needed to port my phone number from Fongo to Public Mobile. It's been 4 hours now, Fongo told me they did not receive any request from Public Mobile. Do you know how much time I should expect the request to be processed? On Public Mobile website it says 2 hours... it's been almost 5 now.

Thank you 🙂

How long did you have your Fongo number?

If it is less than 30 days old, you need to pay Fongo $25 transfer fee before Fongo will let the number go.

At this point, nothing we can do but wait for moderator to help you.

If you have not send a private message to moderator for help.  Do it ASAP as the morderator wait time is 2 -3 days.

Restart your browser and try it again.  The server may be doing something around midnight hours.

Your Fongo number must be active before it passes the check.

@Moderator_Team   I requested to port my Fongo number to Public Mobile yesteday morning (Nov 29, 2018).   It said the port was successful.  Instantly I was able to make outgoing phone calls with Public Mobile.  However incomng calls and receiving/sending sms is still (over 24 hours now) going through Fongo.  Any clue when the port will be completed?

thanks 🙂

From official industry sources, it should be done within 2 business days, although I've read storeis about VoIP sometimes taking a week or two.  https://www.cwta.ca/for-consumers/wireless-number-portability/#9

The incoming calls continuing to go to your Fongo service is normal until the transfer is complete. The outgoing calls at Public Mobile (using the same phone number) is also normal.  That's just how Public Mobile does things.

@coolman78, Although the moderator team monitors for posts where they are tagged, it is not always the best way to get in touch with them (usualy a private message is more efficient).  That said, in your case, the delay is probably quite normal.  Although porting from another cell provider is usually quick (within hours), porting from a land line or an IP phone service can take much longer (several days - a week).

Welcome to Public Mobile.

@maudet88 Assume it will take a week to transfer from Fongo. Cell numbers take a max of a few hours. Just keep using Fongo until it stops.

@maudet88

For cell phone usually takes an hour or less to port. But for Landline and VOIP is much longer it can take 48 hours business days only

Usually PM gives them a day to make sure before you have any issues. Hope that help

Landlines and voip phone numbers can take considerably longer to transfer to a mobile phone company.  Other than the increased amount of transfer time, the process isn't that different.

When requesting ports from landlines and VOIP I believe it will take longer,  With landlines it is up to 7 days not sure what they have for timelines with VOIP services
