Porting a Landline From Telus

FlutteringBy

Hello Everyone,

On July 17, my Telus landline was successfully ported into Public Mobile, with the assistance of an Agent...the Telus account balance was $0.00

I have now just received a bill from Telus dated July 20-Aug19...

Shouldn't the Telus account automatically be closed out?...I am still able to log into the Telus account...

Thanks for the heads up....

I am still able to log into the Telus account even though the agent said the account is now closed....but the balance owing is now showing $0.00 .....

I'll keep an eye on it to see if it will close after the "next payment date" which is Aug. 10....

The number hasn't changed....always something to be aware of....😊....

It should have automatically closed the account. A final billing cycle for any remaining charges or credits is normal and your online account may remain open for a normal period of time if you don't delete it yourself.

Just be sure that it didn't assign you a new number, I've heard of it happening that it's misdirected and remains active with a replacement number.

I was able to contact Telus & got the account closed....they were quite surprised that I was able to still log in after the port took place...

Thank you everyone for your suggestions & support...

Thank you @FlutteringBy very much for providing area code/3 digits.

It IS landline in BC by Telus. Assuming 'Telus Mobility' is Telus Mobile service and 'Telus' is landline.

Good morning Meow....

The number that I ported over was a real landline.....the area code is 250-692....

On Public Mobile I have no problem receiving/sending calls, texts & accessing data...

Sure, I'll help doing a test, but keep in mind that this old phone is running android 7...which is why its mainly used for talk....

Hey @FlutteringBy

Question to help our fellow community member @Meow out. Are you able to text to that old landline number now? Also, are you able to receive 2FA codes yet?

Thank you @Chalupa_Batman for bringing my to this topic.

Question is what service @FlutteringBy had with Telus; was it mobile number or Real landline? Providing area code and first 3 digits will tell me what line was ported and then I can talk to @FlutteringBy if he/she is willing to do short test with me.

Yes, I am able to send a text to my old landline number, no problem there....but I cannot receive 2FA codes.... this older phone is android 7 & might have something to do with that...

@FlutteringBy  best to contact Telus regarding your bill. Public Mobile agent wouldn't have access to that account.

But there should be a credit on that bill with explanation..
