Porting Issue-Wind Mobile

robbie_brar

Hello @Shazia_K  / @Mary_M (Sent personal message with details in the morning).

I have ported my number over from Wind Mobile last night. It said that the porting was successful, however when I called my old number, it rings on Wind SIM.

On the other hand when I call from Public Mobile SIM on my home baseline number or any other number, the caller ID shows My ported Wind number.

Could you please check to see that the porting has been gone through?

My Wind billing cycle for new month starts tomorrow, therefore I want to disconnect my line with Wind today.

As of now (4:08PM EST) if I call my number from any phone it goes to my Wind voicemail and the Wind SIM shows no signal bars. Is this a good news.

Should I call Wind to temporarary suspend the service?

I'll be very thankful if this is taken care of as soon as possible (at least before the end of the day today).

Best regards,

Dont disconnect with wind you could lose your number in a rare case. Dont worry you will be fine just wait it out. Sometimes the port can take up to 3 days

@daka_x follow up with them again as the mods are super busy.

@robbie_brar hmm maybe wait a little bit of more time to see if the port goes through completely? but as others advised don't suspend anything with wind for the time being. your wind account will be closed by itself if anything.

Wow @robbie_brar, you say you got this resolved immediately? I've been facing the exact same issue and continuing to face this issue, and I moved over to PM on Monday night!!! 4 days ago!!! You managed to get ahead of me on this.

Thinking whether I should do what you do and get in touch with PM's FB team. I haven't heard from a mod here in 2 days...

Hello @Luddite

Thanks for replying, I have put the port request last night around 9:30 PM and got a confirmation when I submit the request on PM website that the port was successful.

I have been able to call/use Data from PM SIM, but my worry is that when I call on my ported number the call goes to Wind SIM (which is still fully functional).

I also got an assurance from Public Mobile FB team at 10:55AM today morning and it said

"10:55AM

Hey Robbie, Thank you for reaching out to us ! Sorry to hear about this - I have some good news, I have resubmitted it and the port will be completed within 30 minutes to 2 hours !"

It has been 6 hours since the resubmitted.

I hope it gets ported today.
Thanks for your time on helping me with this issue.
Best!

Hello @daredogg and @suefs,

The Wind SIM is working and so is the PM SIM.

When I call from PM SIM, the person on the other side see my Wind number (ported number).

However when someone calls on my ported number it rings on Wind SIM.

To be clear on the device front, I am using Lumia 950XL Dual SIM.

@ben10nnery

No I have not received any email or SMS from Wind yet. My wife was also on the same account.

She got a message from Public Mobile that her number got ported and she can be called on the ported number using PM SIM.

3 hours of patience for porting is required. During that time incoming calls go to Wind, PM SIM will make outgoing calls. If you can make outgoing calls on your PM SIM your account has been activated.

@robbie_brar on second look, it appears your port didn't even initiate. If full service is still working on Wind, and nothing with PM, I'd say there's an issue.

I noticed some people on here saying certain Wind phones need a full system reset in order to work. It's something that LTE is not enabled, and you need those bands for your phone to work on PM. I wish I could give you more details, but hopefully someone with first hand experience can help.

...and @suefs, it seems the exact opposite that port didn't go through since number is ringing on Wind.

Hopefully someone will help you shortly, but definitely don't temporarily suspend anything. When the port completes, it'll cancel your account automatically.

If anything you may want to remove your sim and re insert it and reset your phone. You can also check your APN settings and cellular settings

Have you gotten a confirmation email from Wind that your billing service was cancelled yet?

Actually the Wind number is still working as normal. I call my ported number and it rings on Wind SIM.

I guess when I switched the Data option to Public Mobile SIM, the Wind SIM stopped as it only works with 3G signal.

Please help. I don't want to loose my number and I don't want to loose my $40 to Wind.
