Port number from Fonus

BethBuss

I tried to port my number but it said it was not eligible to transfer. Can someone advise if there are any work arounds to retain this phone number?

Thank you! I sent the details and asked for help from an agent via primate message. I appreciate the feedback and help.

Is there a phone number so I can talk to an agent? I got the instructions from Fonus and for them their process is automatic so I just need to follow what they have here…

hi @BethBuss

403816 is really a set of  Calgary number owned by Telus, no reason you cannot be back to PM.

ask agent, they can help to manually port back.  I think similar to Koodo Prepaid, you just need agent to manual port for you

I already have a temporary number when I activated my account. Maybe CS can help by doing it manually?

that is a great point @BethBuss .  It could be that you need to get a temporary number first and need to ask agent to help to manually port the number into PM. But ask support agent to confirm

also, do you mind to tell us what the first 6 digits of your phone number?

That is strange because the number originated from Telus when I first got the number. I will open a ticket to confirm. Thanks for the quick responses by both of you.

Hello @BethBuss

If you use the link already given to see if the number can be ported and it says YES and the system still won't port it for you, you'll need to contact a CS Agent.

You will have to create a ticket for a CS Agent to fix that.

To Submit a ticket, please click the following link to access the Public Mobile Chatbot:  https://widget.telus.tiia.ai/publicmobile/publicmobile.html  Type: Customer Service Agent

IMPORTANT INFORMATION: I am not a Public Mobile employee. I am a customer just like you. Please do not send me a private message with your personal information.

EDIT: After I posted this, I refreshed the page and see it says you can not port it to Public Mobile. If you REALLY want Public Mobile over everyone else, you're going to have to port the number to another service, then port to Public Mobile. If Fonus is saying you CAN port the number and the Telus umbrella says no, then porting to another provider first may be your answer. A pain in the butt but an answer.

hi @BethBuss

then it cannot be ported into PM.  It has to do with some technical reason so not all number can be ported

with the result saying it cannot be ported to Koodo, it means it cannot be ported into PM, Koodo and Telus

if you want to confirm, you can also open ticket with PM support by message:

Yeah it says it can not be ported 😢

HI @BethBuss

as said, use the site the check if it can be ported into PM first.

Yes it is a Calgary number. Se my post to great neighbor above.

Yes it is a Canadian number that originated in Calgary Alberta. We got port instructions from Fonus but I can’t even get to the next step to enter the details to start the transfer.

HI @BethBuss

is this a Canadian number?

and even Canadian numbers, some number cannot be ported into other carriers.  There are some technical reason

you can use this site to confirm if it can be ported into PM.  It is a Koodo site, but both Koodo and PM uses Telus system so the result is same

Which city is this phone number from?  Not all phone numbers can be transferred to Public Mobile.
